the year where everyone was talking about economical crisis,
i have been blessed.

being involved in 3 TV Shows within the 1st six months of the year.

a new title and position in a new venture and partner.
blessing.

from fashion styling to makeup artiste to host and now Producer.
Producing TV Shows with MediaCorp's new channel Toggle to
working with some of Asia's top Network.
blessing.

some of my new friends in town.

but all this is truly nothing compared to what i lost in 2012.
this year i lost my Mom.
and this is the 1st time i'm sharing this in print.

6.55pm

her physical suffering ended and she left to be with Him.
but there and then i knew somehow everything's gonna be all right.
and it is.
now i have her and Him looking over me.
telling me it's okay.
that i am not alone.
and am always loved.

and each day since, i thank my God for His blessings.

WORK

i have been busy working.
yes... i know.
for someone who believes that when it comes to work or working
it should be like the full moon, happening once a month,
i have been busy with WORK.

of course not like everyday but still.
in October alone i was working for 5 days.
5 whole days!
then i took a week's off to Bali.
but still! 5 days!
1 day of TV shoot. 2 days of events and 2 days of TVC.
and don't forget the preparation period.
so technically i was working like for a month!

and i just got news of a new TV show in 2013,
which would air for 52 weeks.... that's an entire year.
i could be working for an entire year!

wonder how long a break i can take for a project like that?

i'm not here supporting tom, dick and amy.

but let's be honest.
when has anyone not felt or said something against your fellow singaporeans?
that includes colleagues, politicians, neighbors, beauty queens, taxi drivers.
the list goes on and on and on and on... u get the picture?

so why is it when a remark made towards someone who's not of your ethnic background
or a minority considered racists?
i'm just curious.
cos the last time i check i belonged to the smallest minority in singapore.
let me explain.
i'm an indian-vietnamese makeup artist/fashion stylist/producer/host/celebrity/male.
i really don't think there's another like me.

so should i be offended by every word that comes out of say... EVERYONE?
no. because of who i am i have also learnt to be gracious. and thick skinned.
and screw everyone else who doesn't get it.

the Body.

working out at the gym has been part of my weekly routine
for the last 4 years.
i even worked out with a Personal Trainer,
only because i really wanted to improve and build up the 'Body'.
and during all that time never did my body ache, breakdown
or even pull a muscle.
and yes... the 'Body' improved.

but now its a different story.
as i turn older there are days when the 'Body' is in pain for days.
back muscle ache. shoulder muscle ache.
neck pain. and the pain goes on for days. sometime for weeks.

No. it isn't due to over exercising.
and i'm kinda ashamed to say this...
i hurt the 'Body' because of the way i sleep.

i sleep on my sides and roll like an elephant on steroids in a Tutu.
so because of my sleeping performance during the night,
the 'Body' wakes up to multitude of pain, aches and pull.

so what do i do to avoid future torments?
get a bigger bed so there's more space for the 'Body'?
sleeping pills so that i am more Zombie than Tutu?
idk...

btw, is it weird that i address myself as the 'Body'...
no?

hello. my name is marcus ac and welcome to my blog.

so why is that when most bloggers post an entry,
and i mean most, not all, expect some kind of reaction?

isn't the reason for a blog just to pen your thoughts and views,
share the ''how was my day'' and maybe, just maybe,
improve on the english language?

of course as readers we like the ''sharing'',
enjoy the tongue in cheek humor and the cheap advise.
i personally enjoy Mr.Brown and Bong QiuQiu's blogs.
Mr.Brown has the balls to poke fun at just about anything
all in the name of a good laugh.
Bong QiuQiu is really the sweet next door Ah Lian who is always
so earnest and sincere.
and then there are those who claim to be Blog Experts,
giving Expert Criticism on just about anything!
they would be talking about makeup and beauty products
with no background to their credit.
don't even get me started on Food Bloggers.
where does one get to be a Food Blog Expert?
what course do you take to comment about ''local delicacies'' ?

don't get me wrong,
i love reading a self opinionated view of just about anything.
be it the new NARS makeup,
the cheapest botok clinics in Bangkok,
Prince Harry's naked in Vegas,
lousy service at Comme Des Garcons or
will the real Ban Ban please stand up?

but that's what it is, A SELF OPINIONATED VIEW.

43 is something new to me.

frankly i'm into being 43 for just about a week and

strangely enough, it feels the same.

from passer-bys recording accidents on the street to
frighten passengers filming upset aunties in the train.

almost anything & everything lands on either Facebook, Twitter or Instagram.
everyone i know is on 3G, 4G, 4GS or WiFi.
even aunties...

gone are the days when you leave, no one could contact you.
when sending a mail would cost 10cents.
entertainment came in a form of TV.
and music was free.

now everyone is a online celebrity.
you can literally do anything on the web and people will take notice.
from showing how to do your makeup to travelling the world.

and it's all done with just a touch...

almost every single person on stage had their face pulled, injected or molded!

no laugh lines around the eye area.

no crack lines along the smile area.

no frown lines along the forehead area.

simply put, no lines whatsoever.

u see, mine still has some lines.

my doctor and i decided that my face should still look natural.

it's kinda weird, scary if the face is too flawless...

i ain't no Fann Wong.

i don't use SKII.

i only got my teeth straighten and face injected.

i just wanna look natural.

it has been an amazing start to 2012!

just when i thought my TV career was done,

2012 presented me with not 1, not 2, but 3 TV Shows!

to be part of 3 TV Shows just within the first 3 months of 2012!

that is truly a blessing.

it started with season 3 of SuperModel Me for KIX & Channel 5.

joining the show with my BFF, Lisa S as the Host was so much fun!

being part of the reality competition where i would just be myself,

'The Bitch' was even better!

styling the girls, judging them and deciding who continues or... NOT.

involved in only the first 4 episodes was worth it.

it was a blast!

next came Vasantham Express for Vasantham Channel.

returning for its 5th season, the producers invited me

to be part of the ensemble.

and i would be the 'Fashion Guru'...

going where no other Gurus have gone before.

playing producer for the fashion segment meant

introducing fashion's more commercial & mainstream side.

then there's STYLE ETC.

my baby.

my very own fashion program for MediaCorp's TOGGLE TV.

i'm still in the midst of production and will air soon.

besides producing, research and hosting it,

i am on cloud 9!

with all this, still i want more.

so i am getting ready for more.

why not?

3 months ago i didn't have any of these...

ever wonder why singaporeans speak bad english?

well, not all singaporeans but almost most.

you hear them everywhere.

neighbors. students. consultants. beauty queens.

the list goes on.

and i just found out Why.

it's the parents.

when kids are young, specially when they are toddlers,

parents talk to them in this 'cutezy' manner.

haven't you heard them speak?

''Oh! see the bird bird!''

''ger-ger, come come.''

''hot hot! slowly eat soup.''

''don't run run then you fall!''

''hug hug'' ''kiss kiss'' ''pee pee''

serious. serious. why the need to repeat to words?

and its worst when these kids mumble sentences.

they need to learn how to enunciate.

parents need to learn that how they talk, speak and interact

with their toddlers will result in how their babies will end up

speaking, behaving and interact in their grown lives.

so if you are a parent, please start now.

speak good english.

or don't have kids.

when i take on a project, my clients usually tend to pamper me.

whether it's at a cool cafe or a fancy restaurant, they pick the tab.

when its new product, i get to try them first.

and sometime i get to take them home.

from perfumes to shoes to 1 of a Kind... i am pampered.

within the last month, i have been "presented'' with,

a S$600 watch, 2 tailored shirts,

some hair products ( don't ask me why??? ),

more makeup products and a ring worth S$3600.

how blessed am i!?!

so imagine my shock today when i got to take home

a very large bottle of SKII Miracle Water to help hydrate my

very tired skin that has been working 3 days in a row.

wait. that wasn't the shock.

when my Series Director calls to tell me he lost his iPad2

while we were filming today.

wait. that is still not the shock.

me franticly emptying my tote bag to search for all the location

contacts we were in today.

no. the tote bag isn't it.

my very large bottle of SKII Miracle Water which was to help

hydrate my very tired skin broke.

and all the Miracle Water was splashed on my shirt

and was running down the floor tiles.

now u can react.

the horror of seeing the accident happen in front of me eye.

my personal items displayed as the world walks by. clueless.

the tragedy of standing still with everything exposed.

keys. wallet. my iPad2. lighter. my iPhone,

with my Director hanging on the line.

in moments like this all you can do is just take a deep breath

and wish you didn't answer the DAMN PHONE!

i held my head up.

picked my stuff up and went straight for the train.

dehydrated.

a trend of bad taste...

seriously... its not funny.

in just a matter of days i started seeing a trend.

a trend of bad taste,

hideous outfits

and godforsaken hair.

do people not have mirrors at home?

do their friends not tell them?

i am a makeup artiste.

i am a choreographer.

i am a fashion stylist.

but i do not wear makeup, sashay or play dress up.

while the NOT wearing makeup or sashaying works fine,

the NOT dressing up does not go well with many people.

being in the Fashion field means one must always or at least keep

up with trends, style and appearance.

3 things i'm not into when i comes to myself.

i know that i can put together an amazing look

with limited wardrobe, money or time.

but when I have to do the same with myself, i become Lazy.

when it comes to dressing up i have 3 Rules.

#1: Where are you going?

#2: Why are you there?

#3: Who are you trying to impress?

these 3 Rules help you dress Good,

makes you look Better than the rest and

you honestly feel the Best about yourself.

meaning i was too lazy waiting for things happen.
